Talbott Quits Plans Return To Business Job

Harold E. Talbott will resign as secretary of the Air Force one week from Saturday to avoid outside business profits linking him to the Eisenhower administration. President Eisenhower accepted the resignation and praised Talbott for effectively and loyally performed service. Talbott, 67, faced Senate scrutiny over a $132,032 outside income from his two years in office.

Youth Admits Involvement in 20 Burglaries

Acting Chief Edgar Gauer said 19 year old Richard Freeland Pegg of 1455 Harding Avenue confessed to taking part in 20 burglaries during a February crime spree. He aided 32 year old Charles W. Crawford in the Cromwell Furniture safe burglary on February 26 and in 18 other business break ins.

Hearing On Conrad Fire Protection Plan In Vigo County

A public hearing before Indiana State Board of Tax Commissioners in Vigo Circuit Court heard pros and cons of a 36849 dollar appropriation for Harrison Township fire equipment. Seventy-two attendees weighed fire insurance rates annexation plans and volunteer department adequacy, with six opposing and twenty two approving the proposal. Fliers To Start Home Quickly From Hong Kong

Railroad Fireman Seriously Injured In Indiana Incident

Lloyd Reynolds aged 32 of Terre Haute, a Pennsylvania Railroad fireman, suffered a skull fracture when a steel fragment struck the cab of a diesel engine at Indianapolis. The metal was likely thrown from a trackside overpass, missing the engineer R B Hartman. Reynolds was hospitalized at Methodist Hospital. Earlier a pellet from an air rifle was fired into another diesel cab nearby.

Man Charged with Fatal Stabbing in Indianapolis

Charles Grant 35 Indianapolis held on murder charge after allegedly stabbing George Snow 32 during an argument in a car. Grant fled to Higheapolis following the incident and was arrested after police were notified.
