PrlANG FORTE and MUSIC STORE on Sycamore street announces a large assorted stock of pianos from the manufactory of Messrs Reis & Clark New York. Also Gaiters Violins accordions French and British harps with strings. Teachers and patrons urged to select and try instruments with a 12 month trial and 12 months free maintenance for town limits.
Notice from Bartle and Brothers stating the firm will wind up operations by June 1 1841 due to withdrawal of a partner. They promise continued fair terms under new agent, ensure yarn quality, and low prices to maintain public patronage at Rocky Mountain or nearby location.
A broadside from February 24 1841 offers a ten dollar reward for the capture of Daniel Satel, about thirty four, six feet tall, with a scar near his mouth and part of an ear missing. The notice warns all persons not to harbor him and promises a payment to anyone delivering him to Grover Edversconhe county, XC.
An 1840 Tarboro testimonial extols Brandreth's Pills as a universal remedy. The letter claims they purify blood, strengthen the body, and cure inflammation, rheumatism, dysentery, constipation, and various ailments, asserting Mercury-free safety and daily use benefits. An 1840 letter purports Evans Camomile Pills and related tonics cure a wide range of nervous and digestive ailments. It extols Chamomile as a mild stomach aid, claims relief from palpitations, dizziness, debility, hypochondria, and even consumption. It lists safety as purely vegetable, warns to buy from listed agents, and cites a testimonial from Jonas Snyder of Kernesville about dramatic recovery after use.
An advertisement extols a medicinal preparation named Dr Wirereleds Nervine Lotion promising instant pain relief and rapid improvement for a broad list of ailments. It claims quick subduction of acute and long standing diseases, with testimonials of dramatic cures affecting disorders from dyspepsia and asthma to neuralgia epilepsy and skin eruptions.
Dr Harrell of Tarboro displays cures from 1841 in Halifax and surrounding counties. A man with a sprained ankle, a nervous headache, chronic rheumatism, acute shoulder pain, ringworm on the face, and facial neuralgia are treated with his method. Results include relief within minutes to twenty minutes and complete use restored in days.
