Listings include a 170 acre tract with mill seat and two dwellings near Hilliardston, a 750 acre adjoining tract with dwelling and outbuildings, a 260 acre tract on Sappony Creek, and town lots in Nashville with a two story house of 15 rooms. The notice also promotes Evans Tonic Pills for palpitations dizziness nervousness and hypochondria. Includes testimonials and lists of regular agents across several towns with a January 1840 date.
GEO HOWARD, Agent in Tarboro promises Brandreth’s Pills as a universal cure and blood purifier superior to Sarsaparilla and mercury during 1840. The advertisement touts daily use without weakening the body, claims no mercury side effects, and asserts cures for inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes, dysentery, and other diseases by purifying blood and supporting natural strength.
A vintage medical advertisement touts Dr Harkrells Nervine Lotion as swiftly easing acute and chronic illnesses. Claims include near-instant pain relief and cure for ailments from dyspepsia to epilepsy, neuralgia, rheumatism, skin eruptions, and more, with dramatic results across numerous conditions.
A 1841 Tarboro newspaper notice by Dr Harrell lists six case cures of nervous headache rheumatism facial neuralgia and ringworm in North Carolina and Virginia patients. Highlights include a rapid relief from a severe ringworm and a three day cure for chronic rheumatism with patient testimonials and an agent notice.
Advert shows $10 reward for the return of Daniel, a 34 year old, about six feet tall enslaved man raised in Pit County NC, dark complexion with a scar near the mouth and a partially bitten ear. Weighs around 200 pounds. Described as a little knock-kneed, prominent nose. warned against harboring him under law. Claimant Abner tison offers reward if delivered to west Oak Grove Edgecombe County NC or confined in jail. Notice dated Feb 24, 1841.
The court orders publication in the Tarboro Press for six weeks notifying defendant Daniel K Warner to appear at the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions in Tarboro on the fourth Monday in August to replevy and plead. otherwise default judgment will be entered and attached property condemned to plaintiff.
