Buck Burshears of La Junta Colorado presented a film program featuring Koshare Scouts to Taos friends at Sagebrush Inn on Tuesday night. Refreshments followed the screening as the Burshears plan a few more Taos days during their frequent trips.
El Rito Eagles built an early lead and withstood a strong fourth quarter from CORONADO DRUG fort against Taos Tigers to win North Plaza PL 3322. The final score was 26 to 20 on Friday afternoon.
El Rito Eagles edge Taos Tigers 26 20 as Sena scores three touchdowns and extra from Silfredo Martinez passes Estrada for a 27 yard connection. Taos answers with Rivera, Cardenas and Medina scoring. Griffin shines on defense. Tigers threaten late but fall short.
Mr and Mrs Gordon Lavy are home in Des Montes after a wedding trip to Mexico City. Mr and Mrs Robert Spears from Scarsdale New York are visiting Taos for the first time in five years, staying at El Pueblo Motor Lodge.
Funeral services for Elena Martinez 61 of Questa were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the San Antonio Parish in Questa with Father Litjen officiating. Burial followed in Questa Cemetery. J. B. Rael delivered the eulogy. Pallbearers were Gilbert Martinez, J. B. Rael, Andres La Forrette, Salomon Blea, J. B. Gomez, Eloy Rael. Garcia Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Dr J G Porter 71 of Lubbock Texas longtime summer visitor since 1927 died about 4 am Tuesday of a heart attack at a friend's cabin in Tres Ritos He owned a cabin there for about 20 years Survivors include his wife a brother and a sister Body flown to Lubbock for services expected today at Sanders Funeral Home Hanlon Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements
Muriel Boone spoke at the District Fall Presbyterial meeting in Penasco last Saturday on Africa and its changes, a biography of missionary William Phillips, and a review of Encounter with Crisis. Reports and discussions on mission work and ecumenism followed, with a workshop. Represented areas included Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Chimayo, Dixon, Truchas, Chamisal, Taos, Ranchos de Taos, and Penasco. Funds raised by women for medical work were donated to the San Luis medical unit.

Mrs. David died in Taos after a house fire that forced her to flee the burning home. She was found unconscious with a head wound in a laundry area and later died en route to burial preparations. funeral arrangements followed at the Presbyterian Church with active pallbearers named.
