Co-Op District Voting Schedule Outlined
Kit Carson Co-Op members will vote in October for four board seats across districts Ojo Caliente Penasco Eagle Nest and Taos with a district based voting plan and a meeting set for October 27 for the annual gathering. Nominating committees named incumbents and opponents for Taos Ojo Caliente Penasco and Eagle Nest meetings and petitions or floor nominations are allowed.

Fair Adds Infield Auto Parking At 25 Cents
New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque opens the 1962 edition with 2000 infield parking spots at 25 cents per car. About 500 spaces are reserved for season ticket holders and valet subscribers. the rest operate on a first come first served basis. Entrance is Gate No. 9 via a tunnel under the track.

Summer Is Over Staff Is Changed at Presbyterian Hospital

Miera Completes Recruit Training in San Diego
Paul Miera Jr., USN, son of Mrs Olive Miera of Taos, completed a nine week recruit training at Naval Training Center San Diego Calif The course covered physical fitness drill naval customs swimming survival first aid and shipboard routine The period ended with a brigade review as more than 3000 Bluejackets passed in review.

Five AWOL Marines Sentenced to Prison
Five AWOL Marines from Camp Pendleton were jailed within 30 minutes after robbing a Taos Texaco attendant at knife point on September 12. Each received prison terms from three to 15 years at Raton State Prison after pleading guilty to robbery. Names include Thomas Boylas, James Resor, LeRoy Legons, Rennie Daniels, and Charles Burrows.

Aggressor Tony L Suazo Tests First Armored Division
Army private Tony L. Suazo of Taos Pueblo participated as one of 3,500 aggressors in Fort Hood Texas during Exercise Iron Fist. Over six days he and others simulated attacks using chemical biological and nuclear and conventional weapons against First Armored Division personnel. Suazo, 24, a cook in Headquarters Battery of the Third Artillery, joined the Army in July 1981 and graduated Santa Fe Indian High School in 1987.

Taos County Heart Group Donates Resuscitator to Fire Dept
The Taos County Heart Program gave a $500 resuscitator to the Taos Volunteer Fire Department. The unit duplicates an existing machine and will be carried on the county truck while a second remains at the fire house for immediate local emergencies. Resuscitation squad members operate the devices and both are to be attended at all times.

State Coin Used at Fair Marks 26th NM Fair Birthday
A bronze commemorative half-dollar sized coin marks the 26th birthday of the 1962 New Mexico State Fair. The coins, sold to New Mexico banks for months, are legal tender on the fairgrounds and were used as change during the opening race meet. They will be accepted at most booths and the carnival and can be exchanged at any New Mexico bank before Oct. 1.
