Town engineers say Taos Golf Properties may cover nearly all project costs to capture 400 acre feet of San Juan Chama water. Natelson would receive 76 acre feet at 3500 per acre foot while the town funds the rest. A February approval could come after Sept 22 workshop.
Regulators study the proposal to buy Western Bank of Taos and the Taos branches of First National Bank in Albuquerque. After approval, Western Bank assets will be folded into a holding company, then Taos banks will assume the People’s Bank name with a main office on Paseo del Pueblo Sur and a Taos North full service branch.
Concha Torres was fired by county manager Ambrose Mascarefias with no stated reasons. Mascarefias said the department’s needs changed as the county seeks to cut costs and meet a 50 percent budget reduction, while Torres and others speculate about motives and accountability.
The El Rancho de la Mariposa grounds of Ed and Novella Lineberry will house a new Van Vechten Lineberry Taos Art Museum featuring paintings by the late Duane Van Vechten and works by Taos artists. Santa Fe architect Weidner Jr. is designing a 23,000 square foot facility with a large 11,000 square foot main gallery and alcoves, preserving the existing studio near Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
Taos New Mexico planners granted Allen Stamm tentative approval to build a 42 lot subdivision on 25 acres off Cruz Alta Road. After three P Z hearings and two Town Council sessions, officials denied Sandra Craig's appeal and addressed charges about density water rights notice and acequia realignment.
