Modesto Medina Rites Held At Guadalupes Church

Funeral services for Modesto Medina 76 retired farmer were held Wednesday at Guadalupes Church with Rt Rev Msgr Sigmund Charewicz presiding. He is survived by a spy Demetrio Green River Wyoming one daughter Mrs Joe Rodriguez Taos a brother Felipe Medina Questa and four sisters Mrs Juanita Martinez Arroyo Seco Mrs Maria Agudda Pacheco Center Colo Mrs Nestorat Varas Taos and Mrs Anita Cordova Denver Burial was in Arroyo Seco Cemetery PallbearersFelipe Medina Jr Luis Martinez Hipolito Pacheco Tony Pacheco Damian Archuleta and Pete Marquez Honorary pallbearers totaled eight Garcia Funeral Home in charge.

Funeral Services for William Fraser in Valdez

William Fraser, 64, of Valdez, died September 6 while working on a ranch in Cokeville Wyoming from a reported heart attack. Services were held September 11 conducted by Father De La More. Burial followed in Valdez Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Juanita Fraser and two daughters Mrs John De Fusco of Honolulu Hawaii and Mrs Charles Rodelli of Albuquerque. Pallbearers named Cladove Chacon Joe E Romero Frank Garcia Esquiel Torres Manuel Pineda Cipriana Sanchez. Garcia Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Tomasita Valdez Funeral Services Held in Arroyo Seca

Funeral services for 67 year old Tomasita Valdez who died at home on Sept 3 were held Monday in Arroyo Seca with Father De La Mare presiding. She is survived by husband Juan Valdez of Arroyo Seca and brothers Antonio Martinez Inez Martinez of Arroyo Seco Abe lino Martinez Pueblo Colo. Burial followed in Arroyo Seco with pallbearers Tony Valdez Paul Martinez Climaco Marquez Frank Martinez Uvaldo Marquez and Arthur Valdez.

Lawsuit Questions Incorporation Of Quest Village

Three Questa property owners sue to challenge the 1964 Taos County action that created the Village of Questa. They allege lack of notice and doubt over their incorporation status while naming the mayor, police magistrate, council members, and county commissioners as defendants. The suit seeks quo warranto relief in the state’s name.

DDD Service To Begin Here In December

Direct distance dialing will be inaugurated in Taos and Red River on Sunday Dec 6 enabling residents to dial long distance calls by dialing 11 digits. The system divides the nation into about 100 three digit area codes with New Mexico shown as 505. Only station to station calls can be dialed directly. credit card and operator assisted calls remain unchanged.

Taos Animal Shelter to hold its annual fundraising drive during September 21 to 28 with ongoing improvements to kennels offices living quarters and planned expansion. Free Map For State Sportsmen

New Mexico hunters this fall will have a free map showing the general location of public hunting lands and fishing waters. The map covers 14 million acres of public domain and highlights prime big game and game fish areas. It was published jointly by the Bureau of Land Management and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Maps are now being distributed to license vendors, Game Department offices, and BLM offices, with each hunting or fishing license purchase including a copy. Limited free copies are available at Game Department and BLM offices. The three color map shows boundaries of Indian reservations, National Forests, Parks, and Monuments, military reservations, highways, and town distances, plus symbols for major game and warm water fish. The reverse side includes hunting and fishing photos and outdoor etiquette tips.

Lone county caravan aids Taos stopover amid festivity

A Texas Wally Byam Caravan Club contingent, with trailer spaces offered behind a Taos used car lot, enjoyed a stopover that included a rodeo grounds welcome, pancake breakfast, and hospitality from local leaders. Taos News reporters noted visitors from Dallas and Lubbock, and the group planned a return, praising the community and clean camp conditions.

Demonstration of Weed Burning on Costilla Farm

A heat cultivation weed burning demonstration will be held at Pete Ortiz’s Costilla County farm at 3 p.m. Monday Sept. 21, two miles south of Costilla on State Highway 3. Led by Jack H. Parks agricultural engineer of the High Plains Research Foundation Plainview Texas. The nonprofit foundation is funded by local business and farming contributions. A prior demonstration occurred in Taos County last June. Public invited with no charge.
