Morrison resigns as county manager after heated hearings

County manager Robert Dale Morrison announced his resignation following two contentious public hearings. Taos opens Bella Vista affordable housing complex

LeAnne Martinez escaped high rents with her daughter Estrella to Bella Vista at State Road 68 and Chamisa Road. The new complex offers spacious, clean, low rent homes designed for those at the bottom of the wage scale, with rents from 299 dollars for a one bedroom at 50 percent of median income. Mayor Fred Peralta calls for more such housing to help Taos residents who struggle to pay for living space.

Taos tourism hits slow season after fires

Heating prices set to rise this winter across gas and propane

Local providers warn natural gas and propane costs will jump this winter. PNM spokesperson Julie McCabe says current rates are already double from a year ago and may rise further as the economy remains strong and demand grows. Lee given suspended sentence in fatal Rio Gorge death

Jedediah Lee, 20, received an 18 month suspended sentence for the death of Justin Sinclair, 18, after a punch at a party near the Rio Grande Gorge on Sept. 11, 1999. He entered an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter and faces probation mandates including Community Corrections, 624 hours of service, and other terms.
