Marijuana plants found on Llano land in eradication sweep
State Police helicopter spotted about 40 marijuana plants, three and a half to five feet tall, on land owned by Isaac Romero of Llano Quemado. Romero was arrested on possession with intent to distribute. plants taken as evidence and held in Taos County jail awaiting further action.

Santero Michael Salazar dies in Santa Fe motorcycle crash
Santero Michael Salazar, a 21 year old University of New Mexico student from Taos, was killed Thursday in Santa Fe after failing to negotiate a turn on his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and died of head injuries at St. Vincent Hospital. Salazar, known for santo woodcarvings, recently had a showing in Louisville and was buried in Canon last Monday.

Taos Pueblo to gain 20 more low rent housing units
Taos Pueblo will receive 20 additional low rent housing units next year, with 66 already under construction. Twin brothers shot ends in murder charge for Vigil
18 year old James Vigil of Ranchitos is charged with open murder in the death of David Salazar, 19, and aggravated battery with a firearm for grazing Dennis Salazar, 19, at a Lower Ranchitos house party. The shooting occurred about 1:50 a.m. Saturday. Salazar died after hospital arrival. Dennis was treated and released. Vigil arraigned with $100,000 bond or $75,000 property bond. Preliminary hearing planned.
