Taos Council OKs reorganization code for layoffs and furloughs
The Taos Town Council approved Sept 3 a new ordinance aligning with state policy to allow furloughs and layoffs under reorganization. It permits up to eight hours of biweekly cut for full time staff and four hours for part time, with two weeks notice for furloughs and 30 days for layoffs, and prioritizes seniority for layoff decisions while offering right of first refusal for open positions. City officials will present a layoff plan for council approval and seek input from employees.
