Two prominent New Mexico Democrats will speak at the Kennedy-Johnson Party at 2 p.m. on September 11 at the Sagebrush Inn. Santa Fe Mayor Leo Murphy will speak for Senator John F Kennedy, and Minnie Mae Powell of Albuquerque will represent state vice chairwoman. Gov. and Mrs. John Burroughs and other candidates are expected to attend. Free sandwiches, cookies, coffee and drinks will be served. precinct chairwomen and Democratic women are asked to assist. Transportation will be provided between noon and 1 p.m. from the police station or La Fonda Hotel lobby. All are invited.

Many Countians To Harvest Spuds
About 250 to 350 Taos County residents will join the San Luis Valley potato harvest with 1200 workers from Espanola. Wages run around 16 cents per sack. Most workers live with families, while housing is provided by farmers and some transport themselves. Harvest begins mid September and peaks late September into early October.
