Taos Municipal School enrollment totals 1 808 this week, 41 fewer than last year. Taos Elementary rises by 10 to 677, Canon Elementary drops 11 to 98, El Prado Elementary down 11 to 60, Taos Junior High 496, nine fewer, Taos Senior High 477, twenty fewer. Late enrollees may close the gap toward last year’s 1 849.

Five Cases Before Hobbs During Week in Taos
Justice of the Peace John Hobbs of Ranchos de Taos presided over five Labor Day weekend cases. Nelson Bargill of Castle Calo was fined $15 and costs for failure to control his vehicle. Betty Nasyowna of Tuba City received a $10 fine and costs for speeding. Claudio Trujillo of Taos was fined $25 and costs for overwidth logs on a truck. Jose J. Martinez of Albuquerque was fined $50 and costs for reckless driving. Rafael T. Martinez of Taos paid $5 and costs for an expired license. Louis Martinez of Taos faced two counts on Sept. 4, with $10 and costs for no license and $15 and costs for a left turn violation.

Two Taos Men In Collision Near Questa on Labor Day
Two Taos men, Eugene Garcia and Louie Martinez, were in a two car crash on Highway 3 near Questa on Labor Day. Garcia was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, examined, and released. Martinez was cited by State Police Officer Tom Holder for failure to yield and for driving with a revoked license, bonded at $800, with the case sent to District Court.

Cows Killed on Highway Over Labor Day Weekend
