Fuel spill inflames residents in Questa area
An aviation fuel spill at Questa Municipal Airport leaked about 500 gallons from a tanker after a plug was removed from a 4500 gallon load on Oct. 23. Critics say the tanker violated storage rules and lacks proper permits, as inspectors note tankers cannot be used for stationary storage. The full tanker has remained on site since Oct. 1.

Ski Rio Hopeful for a Healthier Future in Taos Area
In the Sangre de Cristo mountains north of Taos lies Ski Rio with a hotel, restaurants, cabins, and land for exploration. After 14 years and six owners, three foreclosures, and three closed seasons it faces financial trouble due to little snow last season and scarce investment capital. Texas owners Phillip and Donald Huffines say past-due vendor accounts, a $2 million promissory note, and a blackball within New Mexico's ski industry threaten its survival.
