Payroll glitch delays pay at Angel Fire Resort
Angel Fire Resort Corp faced a payroll mix up causing overdue checks and partial stoppages by some employees and contractors. Manager John McIntosh said funds were being arranged with First Federal Savings and Loan to meet a Wednesday payment date. The Resort, about 150 staff, warned a November opening could slip if cold weather delays snowmaking and ski-season demand. The Legends Hotel opening may also be affected. the firm notes prior pay delays under former owner Dan Lasater. New owners Ron Evans and Gary Plante acquired the resort last spring.

LZ Shaker Band Linked to Cocaine Package Mystery
Former LZ Shaker Band members express shock after a package with 2.5 ounces of cocaine was addressed to them. Lynn Dunn of El Prado was arrested after signing for the delivery. UPS had attempted several days to deliver the package before police took over. The band, from Questa, had disbanded in April and performed at Ski Valley Junction. The cocaine value ranges from five to ten thousand dollars.
