Elmer Corne t, superintendent of the American Bridge Company, says the site near Rio Grande Gorge is off limits to visitors. The company and State Highway Department will fence the area to protect the public, as contract terms make the contractor responsible for safety and accidents. The state will provide fence posts and wire.

Chapter Organizes New Mexico Foresters in Albuquerque
New Mexico members of the Society of American Foresters formed a local Rio Grande Chapter in Albuquerque. Foresters from private, state and federal groups will meet bi monthly at rotating communities to address forestry issues. Officers for the year are Cahil Kirkpatrick chair, Ken Lowles vice chair, Robert Pearl secretary treasurer. The state has 5,735,000 acres of commercial timber lands and yields 226 million board feet annually with 2,000 workers earning about 6.65 million dollars yearly.
