The Village of Questa urges residents to deposit for water meter connections before turning on the supply. Those planning to connect must sign up this week or notify the village clerk Gail Smith of their intention and make the required deposits.
Paved road work continues and a new ski lift is planned for Kachina Peak. The easy intermediate run may be followed by additional lifts, as officials cite a growing housing and building interest in the valley and say the project could boost Taos' economy and spark a ski community there.
Trujillo, supervisor at Taos Valley's E C Cabot Memorial Boys Club, completed a two week training in New York on youth work and club administration. The program, run by NYU Education School with Boys Clubs of America, featured experts in psychology and social work and covered guidance, discipline, health, fundraising, and leadership. Over 2 000 leaders have graduated from the course since its inception 46 years ago, with academic credit toward degrees. Edward W. Pastore of Boys Clubs of America directed the session at the Hoover Building in NYC.
Ensign Amos J. Martinez of the 1 U.S. Navy, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Martinez of Ranchos de Taos, is serving in Honolulu Hawaii aboard the USS Towhee. He was commissioned February 2 and completed flight instruction at Pensacola Florida. The Martinez family now resides in Hawaii.
George H. Mutz won the contract for permanent Taos Creek lagoons after bids opened Friday. He met with Water Quality Control Commission members to discuss construction details. John R. Wright, chairman, inspected the site with town officials. Romero stated repairs should be completed within three months, with temporary lagoons halting current pollution until then.
Copter Pilot Warrant Officer Candidate Lee P Kirkpatrick 24 his parents Mr and Mrs L R Kirkpatrick and wife Mileta live in Taos completed a helicopter pilot course at the Army Primary Helicopter School Ft Wolters Texas The 16 week program trained him to fly Army helicopters and perform tactical maneuvers He is now in advanced flight training at Hunter Army Airfield Georgia Upon completion he may be appointed a warrant officer.
