Taos Middle School mourns 14-year-old Maya Montoya in ATV crash
Julia Maez and classmates memorialize Margarito Montoya better known as Maya, who died after an ATV crash on Espinoza Road in Ranchos de Taos during a birthday party. The accident, around 4 30 p m Friday, left friends grieving at the school. Authorities note Montoya, Rowel and Romero were aboard when the ATV veered off the road and hit a fence. Rowell reported urging caution as they turned a curve.

Taos artist Charles Acuna, 42, survived a chain of events from a wet canyon drive to a State Road 68 crash that killed 12 year old Crystal Sandoval and two others, leaving him haunted and more cautious about travel and timing after the collision caused by a driver who fell asleep.

Jury finds Alex Trujillo guilty in beating
Destiny Trujillo testified that her boyfriend Alex Trujillo allegedly attacked her in April. A Taos jury found 21 year old Trujillo guilty of aggravated battery of a household member with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, with additional time for an escape conviction. He faces up to four and a half years plus 18 months, with sentencing set and him jailed pending a Monday hearing.

Romero brother sentenced to life in prison in Taos case
