Tragedy and Charges After Two Infant Abuse Incidents
Two Questa families face tragedy as one six month old infant dies and another is severely injured in separate alleged abuse cases. Jonathan Archuleta, 32, a firefighter, is charged with one count of child abuse a second degree felony. He pleaded not guilty at Oct. 4 arraignment. The case involves a spiral fracture to the infant's upper left arm along with jaw and right arm injuries. The mother Florence Cortez identified the suspect as her live‑in boyfriend and father of the child. The incident prompted a hospital report and police interview on Sept. 7.
