Former Taos banker indicted for embezzlement in 1981 82

Ramon A. Vigil 36 formerly led Taos Savings and Loan, indicted on eight counts of fourth degree felonies for embezzling 6875 from the lender between October 1981 and June 1982. The largest sum alleged was 2179.26 on May 21, 1982 from a Centinel Bank savings account. Prosecuted by Val Jolley with Taos case handled by the attorney general’s office due to a conflict.

Jail escapee Mondragon faced indictment for two escapes

The Grand Jury indicted David Mondragon also known as James David Quintana and James David Gonzales for escaping Taos County Jail on April 20 and September 10 while jailed for residential burglary. If convicted on all charges he could serve four and a half years. He was recaptured after the second escape and found at Lavadie Ranch in Upper Ranchitos.
