Romero brothers arrested in Taos area raid linked to multiple robberies
FBI and BIA along with Taos Tribal and Town police conducted a Friday raid arresting Benito Romero 47 and Charles Romero 41 of Taos Pueblo on warrants. Investigators allege links to several Taos area robberies including a Texas victim at Villa Linda Mall and the Sunwest Bank heist in Angel Fire. A safe stolen from Cids Food Market was recovered at Charles Romero’s home. Charles faces burglary larceny and property damage charges. Benito faces federal charges related to the Indian Health Services burglary. James Romero, brother of the pair, is serving a life sentence for the Michael's Kitchen kidnapping and robbery in Taos.

Juan Fernandez Pereas a Mexican national driving a Chevy Suburban carrying 11 undocumented migrants was indicted by a Taos grand jury on more than a dozen charges. Taos tracks DWI offenders with new interagency system
Taos County Development Department with local law enforcement has launched a DWI offender tracking program. It links the county system with the Highth Judicial District Attorney's Office to monitor offenders from arrest through probation.
