State and local officials gave conflicting sworn statements in depositions tied to a suit by 11 Taos Municipal School District administrators against the district, board members, an external contractor, and former superintendent Roberto Gonzales alleging discrimination and hostile work environment.

Taos County commissioners move ahead with buying 5.7 acres on Albright Street for about 1.9 million. The county will receive a 236 thousand dollar credit from rent payments already made under a lease purchase agreement with Joel and Patricia Perovich, with annual rent of 121 thousand. Commissioner Andrew Chavez said the vote was reluctant but necessary given market losses and prior investments including buildings on the site.
A contractor accuses El Prado Water and Sanitation District of misspending public funds and diverting money to benefit board members and families. The board denies wrongdoing but admits skipping some steps on a water line extension to Chris Cisneros family. Painter and former manager Joy Garcia altered a project report with Wite-Out. The district says the contractor overcharged and caused delays costing taxpayers. Painter says the Cisneros line was always intended to be included.
