Taos Volunteers and Indians Battle Pueblo Fire Time Line
Taos Volunteer Firemen join with Indian volunteers to tackle a large hay stack blaze at Cesario Romero’s Pueblo property. Water from Pueblo Creek proved scarce, but a bucket brigade, Day School pumper, and a Taos pumper kept the flames from spreading. Indian men and women aided by dousing, hauling water, and pulling down a burning shed as flames reoccurred later in the evening. The Indian Pueblo became a notable contributor to Taos firefighting efforts.
