Migrant School Enrolls 700 Students in Taos County
The Migrant Education Program in Taos, Rio Arriba, and Sandoval counties reports 700 students in grades 6 through 9 enrolled after its first year. Students, many from migrant families, receive remedial math and reading on Saturdays plus health instruction. The program runs 45 weeks with one teacher per 15 students and five year eligibility, funded by the federal government at about 100 dollars per student annually.

Two From Taos Honored at UNM
Martin Martinez and Kip Simmons, Taos High School graduates, are among 46 UNM freshmen receiving honors from the UNM Alumni Association. Each will receive a $50 stipend for outstanding 1968 New Mexico high school graduates enrolled at UNM. Engraved plaques were presented earlier, with the awards to be handed at a 4 to 5 p.m. reception in the Desert Room, Student Union.
