Residents urged to watch for marked sandhill cranes

The Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife asks Tags area sportsmen and naturalists to report sightings of 103 greater sandhill cranes carrying plastic markers. Regional Director William T. Krummel says marked cranes from Grays Lake Idaho and Malheur Oregon will migrate south soon to help map migration and wintering areas.

Airport damaged. central plans uncertain

Airport damaged from Page I may continue service, but Hraps-Central gave no indication of resuming now that the facility is available. Officials who attended the dedication were noncommittal. Trans-Central offered no proof of community asset, though the facility will be usable by private aircraft of businessmen and tourists visiting the area.

Sunderland promoted to captain in Air Force

NIAGARA FALLS NY Harry R Sunderland son of Mrs Max E Cooper of Taos New Mexico has been promoted to captain in the U S Air Force He serves as an information officer in a unit of the Aerospace Defense Command at Niagara Falls International Airport NY He is a 1959 Wichita West High School graduate and earned a B A in journalism from Wichita State University He was commissioned there in 1966 through the Air Force ROTC program His wife Carol is the daughter of Mr and Mrs John J Regier of Wichita Kansas.
