Tony Vigil fuels Questa win over Moriarty
Tony Vigil scored 24 points to lead the Questa Wildcats to a 75 51 season opening victory over Moriarty Friday. Coach Arturo Martinez praised depth and pace while rails of fast breaks and 14 turnovers marked early rust before tightening play. Paul Martinez added 18 points and Onorio Rael 12 as Moriarty’s Frank Ortiz, a former Questa student, tallied 18.

Taos acting postmaster Ruben Vigil urged residents to include zip codes on all mail to speed holiday delivery. Out of town items should be sent by air mail by 4 p.m. or at the post office by 5 p.m. In town mail also requires a zip and should be sent by 5 p.m. The yellow pages list Taos County zip codes and more can be obtained at the Post Office.

Blackout Hits Canon Area After Power Line Run-In
About 150 homes in the Canon area lost electricity for around an hour after a high load on a power line along Raton Road flipped into trees and struck a second line. The outage lasted from 4:55 p.m. to roughly 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The cooperative’s operations manager, George Sheldon, noted tree trimming issues and snow-laden limbs as recurring problems. He advised unplugging appliances with motors and shutting off pumps during brownouts.
