Penasco Harriers Advance After District Second Place
Penasco Cross Country earns a state bid by finishing second in the district 2-AA meet at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. Premier runner Benito Arellang placed second on the three mile course with 5k split of Ye time, while Edward Aguilar, Lee Miers, Richard Aguilar and Roger Olguin scored for the barrier.

Taos Junior High School Pirates posted a 3-1-1 1972 season mark built on fast scoring and a strong rushing attack led by backs who totaled 122 rushing yards per game and 122 points overall. The opening loss to St Michael's 14-12 came after a late two point try failed. The squad then pummeled John F Kennedy 42-4 and edged Taos Pueblo Braves 28-24 on a late drive aided by a blocked punt. They finished with a 40-8 win over Espanola after a high scoring passing and screen attack led by Frank Medina to Ed Abreu and Billy Vigil.
