Democrat Carlos Cisneros defeated Republican Celestino Romero with 58 percent in District 6, encompassing Taos Mora and parts of Santa Fe. Voters gave Taos County's two magistrate judges a vote of confidence Tuesday. Democrat Betty Gonzales defeated Manuel Arturo Trujillo 6694 to 1932 in District 2, carrying every precinct except Red River El Valle and Tres Piedras. Democrat Walter Herrera defeated Mario Martinez 4771 to 2874, winning most areas but losing in Red River El Valle and Tres Piedras along with Martinez's home precinct. The judges will receive higher pay and work load. the job is now full-time at 30000 dollars per year, the best paying elective county post.
