Flood threat persists as Taos County battles runoff

Weary crews in Taos County fight high runoff across rivers and streams with more weeks of danger ahead. Heavy weekend rains pushed Red River over banks threatening Red River downtown, homes, cabins, and businesses while officials declared emergencies and mobilized state funds, National Guard, and volunteers to build levees and sandbag. Molycorp and contractors aided by excavators to keep the river in its channel and restore Highway 38 bypass after a washout and spill from the tailings line. over 100 workers coordinate the effort as homeowners race to save properties.

Accidents injure three in Taos and on road to Taos Ski Valley

Two Taos Pueblo men Clyde and John Romero sustained injuries when their pickup rolled near the John Dunn Bridge at noon on Tuesday. New Yorker Raymond Beale Jr. fractured a lower leg in a motorcycle skid on the road to Taos Ski Valley at 12 30 p.m. Beale and the Romeros were treated at Holy Cross Hospital and transferred or cited for careless driving or DWI offenses, with Beale to Santa Fe Hospital for further care.

Taos liquor crackdown urged by state director at conference
