Taos County Carries Martinez To Victory
Taos County played a decisive role in nominating Democrat Tito Martinez for the State Board of Education and boosting his victory over John W. Wilferth. Martinez carried Taos County by 2,048 to 46, with 4,282 to 2,931 overall. Federici won in Taos County by a large margin, while Carlos Trujillo carried his own Taos precinct 54 to 44 over Joe Montoya. Rael, seeking reelection, would be part of a minority in the next House if he defeats Joe Romero.

Jose L. Olonia, 73, longtime Ranchites resident and farmer, died May 14 at St. Vincent’s hospital Santa Fe. Funeral held Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Silviano Vigil Rites Held at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Funeral services for Silviano Vigil were conducted last Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cerro. The 46 year old, who died in May in Las Vegas, had been severely injured in a February 1959 auto accident and had been an invalid since. He leaves a wife Fedelina, two sons Gilbert and Joe, six daughters and four grandchildren. Burial followed at Cerro Cemetery with Father Litchens officiating. eulogy by G B Gallegos. Pallbearers were Albert Mascarenas Carl Salazar Belarmino Gallegos Eduardo Vigil Dan Salazar and Dale Gonzales. Arrangements by Hanlor Funeral Home.

Five year old Philip Trujillo laid to rest in Taos
Phillip Arthur Trujillo died after a lengthy illness at Holy Cross Hospital May 13. A Monday Liturgical Blessing was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Taos with burial at Dolores Cemetery. Survived by Silviana and parents of Upper Banchitos, siblings Ernest Leroy Garcia and Trujillo children, and pallbearers Tommy Mares David Trujillo Eddie Weisel Danny Herrera. Garcia's Funeral Home handled arrangements.
