Hitchhike Thief Pleads Guilty Gets Jail Term
Lawrence Pickard was sentenced by District Judge C R McIntosh to two to ten years in the State penitentiary for unarmed robbery with armed robbery dropped. He was arrested in Westport Connecticut after a highway accident causing 500 dollars damage to his car. The car had been stolen from Gabriel Gonzales of Socorro at Taos Canyon on April 17. Gonzales said he was robbed at gunpoint of 110 dollars. Pickard waived extradition and was returned to Taos last week.

Questa hosts a first time Little League program this summer under managers John Mondragon Fabian Ortega and Alfirio Gonzales. Twenty boys aged 9 to 16 are practicing with tryouts open for all in the age group, with additional players needed for ages 13 to 16. Coaches and trainers are urged to contact Ortega or Mondragon, and parent support is sought to boost participation. Alfredo Trujillo Dies At 81. Services Held
Funeral services for Alfredo T. Trujillo 81 who died May 7 at his home followed a lengthy illness. Requiem Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, burial in Sierra Vista Cemetery. Survivors include widow and daughters in Taos and Ranchos de Taos, sisters in Taos and Bernalillo, a brother in Santa Fe, and four grandchildren. He taught in Taos County and Municipal schools, and served as probate judge and War Food Administration administrator during WWI. Trujillo was born in Taos and was deeply active in civic and church affairs.

Worker Seeks Compensation After Injury
Richard A. Cisneros of Taos, formerly with B. S. Longyear Co., filed a district court suit for workmen's compensation against his former employer and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. He says severe burns from Sept. 5, 1963, while an assistant driller in Questa were caused by lack of safety devices. He earned over $100 weekly at the time and cites temporary and permanent disability with unpaid compensation under the State Workman's Compensation Act. Attorney David F. Cargo of Albuquerque represents him.
