Andreita M Tejada died May 2 at Holy Cross. A longtime Taos Municipal School teacher of nearly 22 years she taught pre first grade. Survived by husband Alfonso Tejada son Richard and parents Juan Manuel and Maria Martinez. Burial Sierra Vista with pallbearers and eulogy by J Abiegel Maez. Arrangements Garcia's Funeral Home.

Requiem High Mass for Mrs Maria Petrita Ina
Mrs M Meding a requiem high mass was held for Mrs Maria Petrita Ina who died in Laramie on April 29 at age 74. She lived in Arroyo Hondo before moving to Laramie to live with her sons after her husband’s death. Surviving are four children Clodoveo of Cheyenne and Rock Springs, Nar of Latonaiy, Narciso and Esiquel Arellano of Arroyo Hondo, and David Aral of San Cristobal with many grandchildren. Burial was at Morada in Arroyo Hondo with Father Doyle officiating. Funeral arrangements were at Hanlon Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Taos rabies vaccination clinic set by Santa Fe vet
Dr L B Duffy, a Santa Fe veterinarian, will host a rabies vaccination clinic in Taos on Wednesday May 18 from 3 to 12 am and 1 to 6 pm at the Old Bottling Plant across from Barber's Supermarket. A $3 fee applies per vaccination. State law requires all dogs over three months to be vaccinated. Rabies cases in New Mexico this year include seven in dogs in Dona Ana and Las Cruces to El Paso area, with 15 cases in 1958.

Rescue of young tassel-eared squirrels denied
Four young tassel-eared squirrels were seized by loggers in the Jemez. The group sought a permit to keep them, which was denied. The animals will be given to the Rio Grande Park Zoo in Albuquerque. Game Management Chief Lavon Ce explains that young wild animals grow up and face feeding and adaptation problems if released back to the wild.
