Rio Grande Grant Opened to Wilderness Fishing
The Rancho De Rio Grande Grant south of Taos will open to wilderness fishing this Saturday. Three streams contain native Cutthroat trout and will be angler-only with artificial lures. no natural or prepared baits. Vehicular access will be restricted within boundaries set by the U S Forest Service and state game officials. Plans for campgrounds and recreation facilities are in progress.

Taos thinclads eye district meet with state hopes
Taos High School track stars travel to Los Alamos for the district meet hoping to qualify nine to thirteen Tigers for state competition May 12 13 in Albuquerque. Under coaches Rudy Pacheco and Lee Fleming Taos has defeated 15 Class B schools this season and aims for big points with standout performances from Law Vargas Mondragon Santistevan and Wiley among others.

Students build cabin as next step in trades program
About 50 boys from Eddie Vigil and Romo classes are finishing wiring and rough-in plumbing for a cabin project. The work, soon to be inspected by the State Electrical Board, gives students practical experience complementing classroom theory. Some will gain summer jobs or pursue a journeyman card in carpentry, with additional training planned at El Rito. Superintendent Otero praised the effort and noted more similar projects are in the works.
