Taos youth on run faces court as warrants issued
In Taos, 16 year old Johnny Martinez remains at large after skipping a probation revocation hearing. A bench warrant was issued in January and another at the latest hearing. Martinez is charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer and aggravated fleeing law enforcement related to a December high speed chase. A separate Taos County grand jury indicted 42 year old August Jones for cocaine trafficking after an undercover narcotics operation and a September search of Jones home on Valerio Road uncovered powder and crack cocaine, paraphernalia and weapons. A public meeting to discuss Stop Drinking and Driving Deaths in Taos County is set for March 29 at the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative board room from 6 to 8 pm with sponsors including Taos Pueblo Prevention Program and others. call 505 751 1420.

Evacuation Clears Taos Center During Hockey Tournament
Taos police and fire responders evacuated the Taos Youth and Family Center on Paseo del Cafién after a 911 call cited many people coughing from unknown respiratory distress. Center director Brian Greer noted a pepper spray like odor. about 250 people suffered throat irritation. No injuries reported. building aired out for 20 minutes before play resumed.
