The review highlights missing employee files, incomplete background checks, and bids not on file among notable items.
A four hour hearing Tuesday established probable cause to charge Ivan Dennings Cales with the murder of Roxanne Houston. The court heard four witnesses, but many questions remain unanswered as to when Houston was last seen alive and how her body ended up in a shallow grave near Carson last year. Cales was charged February 12 and arrested February 23 at a Santa Fe homeless shelter.
Taos Town Councilor Andrew Gonzales says the policy leaves elected officials in the dark and requests formal authority to obtain public business information directly. He noted during Tuesday’s meeting that staff item requests trigger notification to the town manager or attorney, which he calls unsatisfactory.
