County sues three subdividers over illegal land splits
Taos County files three civil suits Friday against developers accused of creating and selling parcels in unapproved subdivisions. Lawsuits target 20 acre tract west of Blueberry Hill Road, eight tracts in Las Colonias, and a 145 acre tract in San Cristobal with penalties up to 5000 dollars per parcel. The action follows calls from neighborhood groups to enforce subdivision rules as Taos County partners with the Western Environmental Law Center.

Taos schools win small slice of requested state funds
Taos Municipal Schools will receive less than 18 percent of the $2.57 million asked from the 1998 Legislature. Only $150,000 of the $450,000 grant is assured, approved last year but delayed by a Senate filibuster.
