First Northern Stockholders to Elect Officers Directors

Robert J. Marl executive vice president of First Northern Savings at a Loan Association told a Taos group last week the four year old First Northern had assets around six million dollars and expected growth in 1967. Directors were reelected including Mitchell and Packard with many Taos and Santa Fe officers named. the meeting in Espanola reviewed the new Taos building slated to open in April.

Vet Consultant In Taos Friday

Rudy Silva of the Veterans' Service Commission in Santa Fe will be at the Taos County courthouse from 8 am to 5 pm Friday. Silva will substitute for Arthur Gallup who is confined to the Veterans' Hospital in Albuquerque with illness and will assist all veterans and widows on claims and other matters pertaining to veterans benefits.

Ski conditions and events for regional resorts this weekend

Ski lines through Sunday show good conditions across Red River Angel Fire Taos and Sipapu. Snow reports include 10 inches at Angel Fire on a 12 inch base with excellent conditions, 6 inches fresh at Taos with bases 53 and 32 inches, and light snow at Red River. Weekend events include giant junior slalom at Red River and school ski races at Sipapu and Taos with Louie Wickum performing daily at Angel Fire.

Court House Hrumph Plans Draw From Committee

Martinez says commissioners have not chosen a site for the courthouse. They will rely on a committee's recommendations and screen all proposed locations. Landowners and citizens offering sites will be referred to the committee, which will select the best options. Some donors have offered land to the county and these offers will be considered. Archbishop Oversees Stabilization Of Adobe Church Walls

Wright describes two methods to stabilize adobe mud in the church walls one by mixing a stabilizing substance with mud and water and the other by applying the mud then spraying a star bilter. Hard plaster is applied inside with the first coat finished calcimine to be applied with a glove to restore the hand finished oak interior. Roof and vigas restoration is nearly done after premature discovery that all old vigas were raven and must be replaced though three were planned to be replaced.
