Airport Group Plans Two Programs For Taos Start
Taos County Chamber of Commerce Airport Committee met at Ragland's Cafe to launch two programs. Col. Merrill De Long will lead a long range airport improvement plan aiming to a municipal airport. Don Blair will support Taos-Seca Airport operations and funding. Immediate needs include a hanger phone, removing the hump, and clearing east west wires, with funding via upcoming fundraisers. Tarleton family thanked for opening and operating Taos Seca Airport near the golf course. Attendees included Mrs. Sally Howell and other chamber members.

Dixon Driver Hurt In Wreck Near Pilar
Oliver Jose Martinez of Dixon was hospitalized after a car left the highway on a curve two miles south of Pilar. Police said he dozed, the car struck a rock, flew over a 43 foot arroyo, and landed on its top. He suffered a back injury and facial lacerations at Holy Cross Hospital.

Thieves Strike Casa Cordova Club in Arroyo Seco
Thieves broke into the Casa Cordova Supper Club at Arroyo Seco Sunday night by breaking a window and stole about 25 dollars in rum whiskey and gin. Sheriff Arturo Trujillo said the unattended building was usually occupied and remains closed until spring.

Road routing debated for Taos Red River corridor

Avaristo Candelario 69 died March 1 in Talpa after a lengthy illness. Relatives from Toole Utah arrive for funeral services at Ranchos de Taos with Garcia Funeral Home in charge. He was a World War I veteran who served in San Michel Verdun and Argonne Forest and belonged to VFW DAV and American Legion.

About 50 junior skiers from Colorado and New Mexico competed in the Albuquerque Club EMSLIE Race on February 25. The Junior Giant Slalom and downhill crowned winners Rosen of Taos in the downhill, Bury of Santa Fe in the slalom, with Rick Rosen second in the slalom and winning the combined title. Wallis of Los Alamos won the combined slalom title.
