Gov Susana Martinez tapped Vint Sarah Backus and Tina Larkin to fill two judgeships in the Eight Judicial District at the Taos County Judicial Complex after Backus was sworn in on Monday June 27. Backus, holding her father’s gavel and robe, marks a historic moment in the courtroom.
Taos Town Council unanimously approved a year long contract worth 410000 with Griffin and Associates to boost marketing efforts through 2012. The agreement begins July 1, funds come mainly from tax ledgers, and includes social media emphasis and collaborations with local groups.
Taos Town asks Taos County to alert the town before approving speed humps on county roads. Town officials fear slower emergency responses as each hump adds about ten seconds. County says it has not formally considered the request and notes current and planned humps on several roads.
