Las Trampas gains national historic landmarks designation
Las Trampas and its San Jose de Gracia Church were named national historic landmarks in a Friday ceremony attended by Archbishop Robert Sanchez, state and church officials, and residents. The designation honors a well preserved 18th century Spanish colonial Pueblo setting with a wooden bridge and historic irrigation system.

Taos Board Approves $231 600 in Summer School Renovations
Taos Municipal School board approved more than 231 600 in summer renovation projects for Taos Middle Taos Elementary Ranchos Arroyo Seco and Arroyo Hondo including over 35 000 for new roofs and 36 000 for playground paving. A 13 500 security fence for Taos Junior High and about 1 200 for the High School were also approved.

Taos Arraignment Set For Wagner In May Shooting
Taos artist Jim Wagner is to appear in District Court on Tuesday July 5 for arraignment on a two count indictment charging aggravated battery in the third degree and use of a firearm in the May 29 shooting of Scott Polland at a Taos restaurant. The felony charge carries 7 to 15 years if convicted on both counts. Polland has been hospitalized at Los Alamos Medical Center and is described as improving slowly.
