Sheriff and filmmakers seek Taos armory space on Blueberry Hill
Taos County commissioners heard two distinct pitches for the 16 679 square feet of the old National Guard Armory on Blueberry Hill Road. Sheriff Charlie Martinez said the cramped offices and need for secure space justify a partial armory use shared with the district attorney and road department. Taos Productions Ltd Co and Taos Film Initiative proposed housing production facilities and sound stages, citing film industry demand and local economic benefits. Potential uses discussed included an emergency response center, call center, school or detention center.
