Taos approves final budget with police street share near a million
Taos Town Council approved a final budget just under 2 million dollars for the coming fiscal year. The general fund allocates 25 percent to police and 22 percent to streets, with total general fund expenditures around 1,898,844 and estimated revenues of 2,007,780. a 460,000 carryover from last year funds the plan. Fire damages Taos County Alcoholism Program offices
A fire at about 5 30 p m Tuesday June 28 destroyed much of the interior of the Taos County Alcoholism Program offices on Kit Carson Road. Firemen said the blaze began near the furnace and did not break through the roof. Extinguished in 15 minutes, the offices were under remodeling along a row of galleries and adobe shops one block from the Plaza. Damage estimates were not available.
