Hitchhiker jailed for rape in Taos County case
A 25 year old Pefiasco man, John D. Sandoval, is charged with kidnapping criminal sexual penetration and criminal sexual contact after allegedly raping a Taos County woman on June 1. He was arraigned in Magistrate Judge Betty Gonzales' court with bond set at 20 000 cash or 40 000 property. An DA investigator said a motion to revoke Sandoval's probation on a prior felony is being filed and disclosed no further details.

Taos Man Arrested in Albuquerque in Sexual Assault Case
David Bolough also known as Juan Duran, 24, was arrested in Albuquerque on a Santa Fe County warrant. A Pojoaque woman said two men visited her home March 6 about vehicles, then one returned, entered her home and raped her while she brushed her teeth. The woman identified Borough from photos and a separate affidavit notes he sold a stolen serape worth over $20,000 to an art dealer. Bond set at $100,000. Borough arraigned June 14 on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Crash kills Cerro man in weekend rollover
An 18 year old Cerro man identified as Frank A Quintana Jr was killed Saturday after losing control of his 1979 Pontiac on SR 378 between Cerro and SR 522. Police report say he was driving at high speed, the car left the road struck a fence and two cedar trees before overturning. He was thrown from the car and found beside it at 5 30 p m Quintana died at Holy Cross Hospital after transport by Questa ambulance.

Louie Cohn, 39, a wrecker driver for Levi Cohn's Salvage Yard, was fatally struck while hooking up a police impound at Paseo Sur near Peralta Laundry early Sunday. Taos Police pursued a suspected DWI driver. a 1973-74 Ford possibly involved left the scene. Cohn, a Vietnam veteran and Army veteran, was to be buried with full military honors in Santa Fe on Wednesday.
