County surplus could top 2M for current year
County mgr Robert D Morrison told commissioners the county could finish the current fiscal year $2.6 million in the black driven by a General Fund and Road Fund surplus. He cited various departments with substantial unused budget percentages and noted Road Fund’s May balance near its recent high. Morrison proposed potential shifts to free about $400k to $500k for the General Fund by trimming the Indigent Fund and adjusting administration fees while awaiting DFA input on the 2002 budget, amid concerns over solid waste arrears and Lodger’s Taxes use.
