Taos Teacher Leaves for Madrid Summer Institute
Orlando Garcia sixth grade instructor at Taos Elementary travels to Madrid Spain to attend a summer course at the Hispanic Institute of the University of Madrid. He will fly from Albuquerque by jet. Garcia has taught at Air Force Dependent's School in Tokyo 1961 62 and Rabat Morocco 1962 63, and this summer will be a student.

Dinner Party Honors Bayld Chavez at Taos Ranch Home
Mr and Mrs Bayld Chavez were guests of honor at a June 14 dinner hosted by his parents at their Ranchos de Taos home. Guests included Dr and Mrs Gilbert Cano from Albuquerque and R J Laughlin family from Albuquerque. David Chavez and baby were en route from El Paso to Ecuador where he will be sales director for Commercial Champion. Mrs Hagel P Kittinger of Kansas City died June 7 aged 88. she was an artist who spent summers at Taos Can on and lived last year in Kansas City. Surviving are a daughter Patty Bartel and three other children plus four grandchildren. Services were held June 9 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Kansas City.

Garden Club Plans Taos Wildflower Tours and Fiesta Booth
The Garden Club met in the afternoon at Mrs. Ernest Martinez’s home with co hosts Mrs. C R Huntley and Mrs. Jey faide Deveaux. They scheduled the Taos Canon wildflower tour for July 7 and a fiesta tour of Taos gardens for July 25. They will run a plaza booth selling seeds bulbs and pot plants. Miss Maude Coote presented a paper titled Sketching the Roadside describing a Taos to Las Vegas NM loop and back via U S hill noting freedom from billboards and praising tree and wildflower beauty.
