Taos town sewer plant expansion clears key EPA hurdle

An expanded Taos waste treatment plant moves forward after filing a construction application with EPA Dallas. The plan seeks 75 percent federal funding for a 1.6 million project, with the town and state sharing the rest. If approved, construction could start by August, with bonds covering about 300000. The project doubles capacity, extending services to subdivisions and enabling nearby communities to connect, while solid waste and liquid effluent volumes rise about 20 percent.
