Penasco roads to receive $400,000 block grant
Taos County won a $400,000 Community Development Block Grant to upgrade three roads in the Penasco area. Anita Padilla said funding will target Picuris Pueblo and Rio Chiquito roads with La Plaza Road in Chamisal. Work likely begins in spring 2012 after October commission approval for a $500,000 grant.

Taos Pueblo Holds Eighth Annual Health Fair Highlights Services
Taos Pueblo Division of Health and Community Services hosted its eighth annual health fair at the Taos Pueblo Community Center on June 3. Attendees learned about senior Olympics independent living programs head start early intervention and groundwater safety while representatives from the Farm Service Agency and Indian Health Service outlined crop-insurance and health services. Community leaders urged greater participation next year as organizers noted steady growth and broad local engagement.
