Seven Taos residents arrested in undercover drug sting
About seven Taos County residents were arrested Tuesday in a six month undercover operation. Roughly 30 law officers from Taos police, the Taos County Sheriff's Department, and the New Mexico State Police conducted the early morning round up charging the seven with trafficking in cocaine and marijuana. One additional person not in the original probe was also arrested. Several others were not home during warrants but are expected to report to work. A Taos County Grand Jury proceeding was targeted for July 31.

Pre Trial Motions in Zough Case Move Ahead

Padilla remains on $500000 cash bond while Herrera and Gaitan are on $250000 cash bonds. DNA evidence and blood stain testing were disputed with a ruling postponed by Judge Peggy Nelson as the DA seeks to present DNA in Padilla and later on car evidence.

Driver in triple fatality sentenced to three years
Mexican citizen Juan Fernandez Pereas received three years in a New Mexico prison and two years parole for a fatal October crash near Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Judge Peggy Nelson credited 10 months served. Pereas remains behind bars 18 months. The accident killed Alfonso Martinez and two others. initial charges included vehicular homicide and DUI.
