Taos Man Given Suspended Sentence In DWI Case
Rudy Struck, 24, of Ranchos de Taos, received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide in the Aug. 27, 1982 death of Chris Romero. He was paralyzed in a later one vehicle crash awaiting trial and must attend DWI school and repay the victim’s family. The district attorney says the sentence serves as a warning to drinking drivers and disability influenced not to impose prison.

Bars face liquor charges in weekend raid
Five teenagers and one adult were charged in a liquor raid this weekend at the Brown Adobe and Log Padres bars. Both were cited for selling to minors or allowing minors on site. A minimum $250 fine applies. Manuel Antonio Martinez of Pecos faces an assisting a minor to deceive charge as bar owner. An ABC agent said officers watched four bars. two violated rules. Five minors referred to juvenile probation officials.

Juvenile Escapes Taos County Center After Phone Call
A 16 year old held on suspicion of criminal sexual penetration escaped from the Taos County Juvenile Center on Friday July 22. Sheriff Felipe Cordova said the youth asked to use the lobby phone and walked out when unobserved. He may have traveled toward Gallup or Grants where relatives are believed to reside. He had just returned from a diagnostic center in Albuquerque and has prior run ins mainly for drinking and disturbing the peace.
