Fire Destroys Preston Paint and Body Shop
A fire at the Preston Paint and Body shop on Santa Fe Road damaged four customer vehicles and a newly purchased truck, with total loss to the truck. Fire Chief Gordon Burt cited a welding incident followed by a flash-back that ignited fumes. Firefighters returned at 8:15 p.m. for a roof flare up amid Fiesta traffic. The Prestons thanked responders and planned to rebuild and reopen soon.

Two Assault Cases Probed in Cimarron and Cerro
State Police investigated two assault cases over the weekend. Virginia Gonzales of Cimarron claims Bob Mares beat her Sunday near a Llano Quemado gas station. charges pending against Donald Cortez after an altercation in Cerro Saturday night. Investigating officer Gerry Ortiz reports Joseph Archuleta, 18, Questa, stabbed twice on the left side and John Vigil, 19, Cerro, with a two inch cut on the left arm, with liquor involved.

Truck Smashes Power Service Pole Near Sierra Sporting Goods
