Gonzales Named Airport Manager In Taos Six Month Review
Richard Gonzales was hired by the Taos Town Council for a six month term as manager of Taos Municipal Airport at a salary of $500 monthly. He is owner of a local car rental and taxi service and had served as temporary manager after Ernest Lyckman’s resignation. The council, voting 3-0, will study airport finances and decide after six months whether to continue the manager or lease operations. The motion was led by Martin Vargas and supported by Ernest Santistevan with Lawrence Santistevan voting yes. Anita Valdes rites held for Taos woman
Anita Valdez, 80, lifelong Taos resident, died July 16 1972. Born December 4 1891, she is survived by sister Ophelia Valdez and brother Felix Valdez, both of Taos. Burial followed services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Sierra Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers included Gilbert Romero Ted Mondragon Ben M Sandoval Fernando Valdez Ray Valdez and Richard Valdez. Rosary services were held July 17 and 14 at Hanlon's Evergreen Chapel.
